Paul transfers into Saturday’s main event at West Plains

Paul made the trip to West Plains yesterday for the first round of qualifying races for the Show-Me Championship set for Saturday night. He was one of the fastest cars in the feature among Terry Phillips, Josh, Jason, and Greg Hughes, Ashley Newman, Hunter Rasdon, Gary Stolba, and Randy Timms.

After starting on the pole in the third heat, Paul picked up the win with a straightaway advantage over Stolba, Newman, and Peyton Taylor. This would give him a second row start in the feature. He went through several position changes in the race, even dropping back to sixth at one point. He would soon regain fourth as he and the top three started to pull away from the rest of the field. Paul would finish fourth to give him a tenth place start in the $5000 to win main event.

Top five at Malden (Video)

Paul returned to the Malden Speedway this weekend after taking a weekend off. Seven other Modifieds were at the track as Paul picked up a last place start in the heat. Track conditions made it nearly impossible to make any ground on the other competitors. He finally found some luck as he made his way past two cars to finish sixth.

The in-car camera took a hard lick at the start of the feature. Paul didn’t make up a lot of ground on the points leader, but was able to take home a top five finish.

Paul takes sixth in USCS event at Malden (Video)

The USCS Touring Series made their usual stop at the Malden Speedway on Friday, July 2nd. On tap for the night were the Sprint Cars, the Outlaw Modifieds, and a grand finale fireworks show. The night started off with a bang, no pun intended, as over twenty Modifieds were in attendance for the twenty-five lap feature.

The cars were divided into three heats with Paul picking up a third place start in the second. He and Chris Moore in the #17 got tangled on lap two, which resulted in Chris retiring to the pits. The race continued without another caution as Paul and leader Robert Powers checked out from the field. Robert began to have trouble in the turns and was slowly losing his lead on Paul. Paul went in deep in turn one and nearly passed Robert, but would have to settle for second.

The top four cars were inverted in the feature, but that had no effect on Paul’s fifth place start. As the leaders began to check out, Paul found himself in a hard battle for the sixth position. Another car then came into the picture and would pass Cheater for sixth, holding on to that position for several laps. As the caution-free race started to wind down to its last laps, last place starter Chris Moore managed to reach Paul and challenge him for another position. Front-runner Jason Hughes in the #8H slowed to idle speed with four laps to go and ran the bottom for the remainder of the race. This and passing the #24 of Kenny Lovins would earn Paul two positions to finish the race sixth.
