Malden (MO) Speedway

Paul was at Malden this weekend. He drew a thirty to start second in the first heat. Paul said his car was acting up during hot laps and he said it might be the drive shaft. About two laps into his heat, the drive shaft fell out, which caused minor damage to some other parts. After rushing home to get his spare, he soon found out that it didn't match up with the part on the car, so he had to make it work. Paul said he wasn't sure how long it would hold in the feature. He was doing good in the feature, until a car spun in front of him and hit the right-rear side of the car. Paul never stopped, but the whole side of the car was smashed in. Later on, he spun in turn one, but kept going without a caution. Then a caution came out for a stopped car, which helped Paul catch the other cars. He spun out in turn three, which brought out another caution and sent him to the back. Since the side of Paul's car was smashed in, it slowed him down a little. He finished the race eighth.

Malden (MO) Speedway

After taking a week off, Paul got right back into the action at the Malden Speedway. He saw the pole position in the second heat whenever he drew the eight pill. Paul was successful at holding off the other challengers to win the heat, giving him the second starting spot in the front row of the feature. At the start of the race, he tried to pass the leader going into the turn. Paul had to check up as the leader shot up in front of him, which caused Paul to fall back to the fourth position. He had trouble trying to pass on the single-lane track. Paul would ultimately find himself crossing the line in the fourth position, marking his first top five at Malden this season.

It was proven tonight that spare parts can be a blessing. Paul drew a sixteen to start the pole position in the first heat. His car ran very well early on in the day, but it would not start prior to heats. The source problem was the distributor, which caused Paul to miss his first heat race in his career. After changing the distributor, Paul was ready to take his ninth starting spot in the feature. Bad luck turned to worse luck as his car wouldn't start before the feature. The problem this time was a loose ignition. After an attempt to fix it, Paul started up his #97 and made his way to the track to take an eighth place finish while riding the bumper of points challenger Scott Burge.

Malden (MO) Speedway
Paul had another run for the money with the boys at Malden this weekend. He drew a forty-three, taking the outside pole in the second heat. Paul's momentum slipped and it caused him to lose a few positions to finish the race fourth. The modified feature was the last show of the night, which ultimately turned into a one lane race. Paul started eighth in the race, but quickly picked up the seventh position. Near the end of the feature, and after a long battle with points leader Scott Burge, Paul finally found and opening around him and took hold of it to finish the race in the sixth position.

Troubles are continuing for Paul and Team 'R' as they slip through the weekend, nearly missing a top ten finish. He drew an eighteen, starting second in the first of two heats. Paul couldn't make anything happen and finished second in the race to pick up second row inside in the feature. He lost a few positions early in the race before getting involved in a scramble that brought out the caution. Paul would soon return to his pit after realizing that his tow-in was not suitable for racing. Another DNF for the #97 team only added to their hunger for the first season victory. Paul made some setup changes following the race and is looking forward to next weekend.

Malden (MO) Speedway

After two more drenched weekends without racing, the Malden Speedway finally got back into the action. Paul went into this weekend fourth in the points standings, trailing the leader by twelve points. He drew a sixteen for the event to start third and finish fourth in the second heat. After starting eighth in the feature among only the best in the region, Paul trailed due to handling problems and finished in the ninth position. Ever since the track was resurfaced during the winter, it has really put a toll on the car's performance. Nevertheless, as the weeks roll on, Paul and the #97 Modified are showing signs of improvement. They will be back on top in the near future.

Malden (MO) Speedway

Paul took the six mile venture to the Malden Speedway for some Saturday night racing. After drawing the thirty pill, he would soon see a fourth place finish after starting on the front row of the first heat. Paul started seventh in the feature. It was a brisk race that saw few cautions. Paul got as high as fourth at some moments, but after it was all said and done, he emerged from the dust cloud in the eighth position. Paul also had an in-car camera strapped to his car during the night of racing. You can view the videos at the top of the page or on the videos page. We are hoping to have more videos to post later on down the road.

Malden (MO) Speedway

As Malden came back from a three week hiatus this weekend, Paul came back for a second try at the feature after being unsuccessful at getting a transfer spot in the big show nearly one month ago. Paul drew a sixty five, placing him in the fourth starting spot in the second heat. He was unable to gain anything, as he finished the race fourth. Paul started the feature eighth among eleven other drivers. He held his ground during he first part of the race, but whenever he tried to pass a car going into turn one, the other driver abruptly changed lanes, giving Paul nowhere to go. Paul hit the other driver, spinning him out and causing a minor pileup. When the race started again, Paul was in the fifth position, but he was unaware that his steering had been disrupted due to the prior wreck. Whenever he went into turn three, he couldn't turn, causing him to drive into another driver, spinning both of them out and bringing out the caution. Paul had to start in the back on the next restart. He spun out again in turn two, which brought out his second caution, forcing him to full off. Paul finished the race tenth.

64 Speedway (Augusta, AR)

After Malden canceled their show due to rain this weekend, Paul decided to take another trip to 64 Speedway in Augusta, AR. He had a small case of bad luck at the track last week, having a flat on the last lap and going from second to finish seventh. Hoping for better luck this week, Paul started off the night by drawing the forty pill, marking him the fourth car to start in the first heat. He followed close behind the leader for several laps until passing him to win the race, giving him the pole in the feature. Paul led the start of the race, but it was soon taken over by the 00 car of Joey Galloway and later the 777 car of Jared Landers. Jared won the race followed closely by Paul.

Opening Night - 64 Speedway (Augusta, AR)

After coming out of a three year hiatus by hosting two November races in late 2008, the 64 Speedway came back strong this season. This track may not have fancy seating or state-of-the-art equipment, but it definitely has potential. Paul started the night by drawing a twenty-four. He was given the third starting spot in the second heat. It didn't take long for Paul to jump to the front and take a dominating win over five other drivers. Jared Landers won the first heat, so it would be him and Paul leading the pack in the feature as they came out of turn four to take the green flag. The race went on for several caution-free laps as Jared checked out from Paul and Paul checked out from the rest of the drivers. Near the mid-race, cars started to pull off the track with troubles. One driver blew his engine, which brought out the caution. When the race started again, Paul and Jared started to leave the other drivers, until Paul's race ended abruptly. He hit a newly developing hole in turn one, giving him a flat tire on the next-to-last lap. Paul had to leave the track and would finish the race seventh.

3rd Annual Bootheel 200 - Malden (MO) Speedway
Paul started off the season by embarking on the $2000 to win race that is the 3rd Annual Bootheel 200, which was hosted by the Malden Speedway. With twenty-nine other cars entered into the race, Paul knew he would have his work cut out for him. He drew the number one pill, which would have put him in the pole position of the first heat, until it was decided that the entire class had to run time trials. Paul made a good lap, marking him the ninth fastest, placing him third in the first heat. He had no luck in the race, as mud started to collect in one of his wheels, causing him to finish last and forcing him to try his luck in the b-main. Paul lacked the handling necessary to transfer into the a-main, as he finished last. For full results, please visit www.maldenspeedway.com
